TDYbnb began in 2018 as a small “crashpad” company built to serve military members on temporary duty (TDY) assignments. One of our founders personally experienced the challenges of long TDYs and understood how much difference good lodging can make.
In the beginning, we partnered with a property management company — but when things went south, we knew we could do better. We stepped in to manage the homes ourselves, focusing on what mattered most: our guests. From that turning point, we built a streamlined, flexible system designed for ease and reliability — because service members have bigger things to worry about than housing logistics.
That shift reshaped our mission. We stopped thinking like property managers and started thinking like hosts — people-first, detail-oriented, and committed to creating spaces that feel genuinely cared for. As one guest shared after switching from on-base lodging, “Everything was seamless — clean, quiet, and felt like a true home away from home. It made my time away from family significantly more pleasant and productive.”
As we grew, we saw an opportunity to elevate what we offered — giving our military guests the comfort and privacy of their own units, while also creating boutique-style stays for visiting families of Airmen and traveling professionals seeking mid-term housing in Wichita Falls. Today, we still operate with the same mom-and-pop dedication that got us started — hands-on, flexible, and determined to make every stay feel like home.
